5 basic facts for quartz watches when they stop or need repairing, I have probably missed quite a few important ones if i have let me know! I will add them!
- With any quartz watch when the watch stops it’s possibly battery related, get the watch repaired or the battery taken out as soon as possible. Why? The battery could possibly leak inside the watch creating more damage then needed.
- When having the battery replaced do not shop on price. Always insist on having a silver oxide watch battery fitted. Why? Silver oxide batteries don’t leak unlike alkaline battery often alkaline batteries are much cheaper than silver oxide but are more costly in the future!
- When having your watch battery replaced always get the watch resealed just like it was when it was first made. Why? The reseal will stop dirt and moisture entering the watch and causing possible damage to the movement. For more information on the resealing.
- Don’t pull your crown when not using the watch watch! Why? If you think your saving the battery life then you could be correct but also wrong all watch movements work differently! Also the problem when pulling the crown out is you may forget to push it back in! If going swimming this could be a disaster!
- Just because your watch says water-resistant doesn’t mean it is! All watches come with different levels of resistancy 30m, 50m ,100m and 200m. Just because your watch says 30m water-resistant doesn’t mean you can go 30m underwater. These figures related to the pressure which will be acting up the watch. More information can be found here
